Challenge
The Network for Rethinking Security in Africa (RRAS), formerly a part of the German NGO SICHERHEIT NEU DENKEN, found itself at a decisive turning point.
Legally independent, the network now had to build its own identity to establish itself as the reference actor on non-violent security issues in Africa.
How can a newly autonomous organization quickly establish its credibility, mobilize international funding, and unite African actors around the paradigm of active non-violence?
Insight
Africa abounds with innovative local initiatives in security and peace, but these solutions remain fragmented and poorly visible internationally.
We identified that the sector lacked a centralized platform capable of showcasing African expertise while building bridges with the academic community and international donors.
This gap represented a unique opportunity to position RRAS as the essential hub for non-violent security solutions made in Africa.
Approach
Guided by the strategic concept “Africa at the heart of peace solutions,” we developed a holistic approach combining identity overhaul and digital ecosystem.
Our methodology was structured around four complementary pillars: optimized information architecture, premium design reflecting African expertise, robust technical development using WordPress, and strategic repositioning of the RRAS brand.
Impact
In one month, we created a complete digital ecosystem that positions RRAS as the nerve center of non-violent security in Africa. The new website functions simultaneously as a resource center, idea dissemination platform, and collaboration network, addressing field practitioners, researchers, and international decision-makers.
The site architecture prioritizes accessibility and intuitive navigation, allowing users to easily discover innovative African initiatives. The editorial charter showcases local expertise while respecting international communication standards necessary for fundraising.
The brand repositioning enabled RRAS to break free from its status as a mere partner to become an autonomous and recognized actor. This new identity, more assertive and authentically African, now facilitates engagement with continental stakeholders and dialogue with international donors.
